Apple Warns on Supply of iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max
Apple issued a notice last week on their website noting that COVID-19 restrictions have temporarily impacted the primary iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max assembly facility located in Zhengzhou, China. The facility is operating at significantly reduced capacity. The Foxconn facility in Zhengzhou China has been dealing with a COVID-19 outbreak since mid-October that has caused panic among many of its workers.
Based on Apple’s earnings call, Apple continues to see strong demand for the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. Our supply chain sources have mentioned that panel shipments will be 5 million units lower for iPhone 14 models as a result of lower panel shipments for the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus. For device shipments, Foxconn expects to increase utilization in order to minimize the impact to less than 10% of the planned production. On Apple's website, an iPhone 14 Pro or iPhone 14 Pro Max order has a 30-to-37-day delivery timing (was 10-15 days a few weeks ago).
As we published in a previous article, we expected total volumes of panel shipments for the iPhone 14 series to be 16% higher than the iPhone 13 series during the same time period of June – December. We now expect the iPhone 14 series to be 10% higher than the iPhone 13 series as a result of reduced panel shipments for the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus. We expect the iPhone 14 Pro to be up 31% in units when compared to the iPhone 13 Pro and the iPhone 14 Pro Max to be up 44% in units when compared to the iPhone 13 Pro Max.
