DSCCの Quarterly OLED Shipment Report (Q1'22速報版) によると、Samsungのスマートフォン S21 FEの発売と他の複数ブランドによるOLEDスマートフォン新製品の発売に加え、ノートPCとモニターでもOLED搭載製品が新たに発売された結果、Q4'21もまた好調な四半期となった。 Q4'21は全アプリケーション対象のOLEDパネル総出荷枚数が2億4200万枚、前期比11%増を記録した。

2021年は予測通り、年間のOLEDパネル出荷枚数が8億3100万枚、前年比25%増となった。複数のアプリケーションが成長をけん引している。スマートフォン用OLEDパネル調達は前年比27%増の6億3800万台で、Appleが数量シェア29%でリードし、Samsungが同22%で続いている。ノートPC用OLEDパネル調達は前年比398%増の550万枚で、Asusが数量シェア44%でリードし、Samsungが同19%で続いている。モニター用OLEDパネル調達は前年比264%増の8万枚で、LGEが数量シェア75%でリードしている。TV用OLEDパネル調達は前年比73%増の780万枚で、LGEが数量シェア58%、ソニーが同22%を占めている。

Q1’22のOLEDスマートフォン市場実績 (パネル調達ベース、暫定値) だが、季節的な減速要因によりAppleは数量シェア27%に後退、Samsungは同26%でQ4'21の20%から上昇の見通しである。

2021 OLED Shipments Rise 25% Y/Y on Double- and Triple-Digit Y/Y Smartphone, Notebook PC, Monitor and TV Growth - DSCC Expects Double Digit Growth in 2022

Q4’21 was another strong quarter as a result of Samsung’s S21 FE smartphone launch combined with several other brands launching new OLED smartphones as well as new OLED notebook PCs and OLED monitors as shown in DSCC’s Quarterly OLED Shipment Report (一部実データ付きサンプルをお送りします) – Flash Edition. For Q4’21, OLED panel shipments for all applications were 242M units, an 11% Q/Q increase.

For 2021, as expected, OLED panel shipments were 831M units, a 25% Y/Y increase led by several applications. OLED smartphone panel procurement increased 27% Y/Y to 638M units with Apple leading with a 29% unit share followed by Samsung with 22%. OLED notebook PC panel procurement increased 398% Y/Y to 5.5M units with Asus leading with a 44% unit share followed by Samsung with 19%. OLED monitor panel procurement increased 264% Y/Y to 80K units led by LGE with a 75% unit share. OLED TV panel procurement increased 73% Y/Y to 7.8M units led by LGE with a 58% unit share followed by Sony with 22%.

For OLED smartphones by panel procurement by quarter, our Q1’22 preliminary results reveal that Apple’s unit share will decrease to 27% on seasonal weakness followed by Samsung with a 26% unit share, up from 20% in Q4’21.

In Q1’22 we expect smartphones to remain the largest OLED application with a 78% unit share. For 2022, by application, we expect smartphones to have a 75% unit share, down from 77% in 2021 as notebook PC’s AR/VR, monitors and TVs gain share. We expect notebook PCs to increase 79% Y/Y, AR/VR to increase 290% Y/Y as Apple and Sony leverage OLED displays for AR/VR eyewear. For monitors, we expect a 621% Y/Y increase as a result of several brands announcing OLED and QD-OLED monitors for 2022. For TVs, we expect a 29% Y/Y increase as a result of Samsung and Sony entering the QD-OLED TV category.

In 2022, we expect to see a decrease of overall rigid OLEDs as several brands continue to focus their efforts toward flexible and foldable OLEDs for smartphones in order to raise ASPs and overall revenue as well as Samsung Display shifting rigid capacity from smartphones to notebook PCs. For all applications, we expect rigid OLEDs to decrease to a 44% unit share from 48% in 2021. Flexible OLEDs are expected to account for a 54% unit share, up from 50% in 2021. Foldable OLEDs are expected to increase to a 2% unit share, up from 1% in 2021.

In 2022, for OLED smartphone panel suppliers, we expect SDC to account for a 63% unit share, down from 71% in 2021 as BOE gains share as a result of supplying flexible OLED displays for the Apple iPhone 13 as well as others gaining unit share for rigid and flexible OLED smartphone displays.
